In the world, there is a lot of great inventions such as: The wheel, the lightbulb and much more but today, I’m talking about X-rays.
In 1895, November 8th, in a physics lab at the University of Wurzberg in Germany, Wilhelm Roentgen discovered X-ray and his wife gets the honor to try it out the first time on her left hand though she does have their wedding ring on her hand so no it’s not anything’s been stuck in there.
Do you know what X-rays are used for and where they are used?
In January 1896 doctors around the world are starting to use X-rays to help patients check their body Even in New Zealand there was X-rays! Pretty cool right.
Then after a lot of discoveries in the X-ray and how to use it. They created Ultrasound and endoscopes and produced the first MRI-magnetic resonance image picture
in 1971, there was the first CT-which stands for “computed tomography-which is a technique for displaying a representation of a section through a human body or other solid object using X-rays. The first patient brain scan is performed on 1971 October 1st.
It uses the same principals as X-rays then a bunch of other stuff happened like having the first Ultrasound of an unborn baby.
Finally, the conquest stops at 2014 When In September 2014, the University of Canterbury was given a whopping $12 million to build the world's first human colour X-ray scanner and Professer Phil Butler is working on it.
Professer Phil Butler says This new technology can be used for better cancer detection. It can also be used to quickly look at any injuries on the inside so doctors know whether they need to operate immediately or not.
X-rays help Doctors by showing up an image of the patient so the Doctors can decide if they need to operate or anything else.
By the way, I also thought of another use for X-rays. It can help polices in airports or railway stations to detect if anyone is taking inapropriet things to remain safety.
