My Winter Vacation
During winter vacation, my family moved to a new apartment because our previous house was located directly above the ground, therefore it gets super moist in summer and dry in winter. During the first few days of my winter vacation, we started to slowly carry small things like pots and books from our old house to our new apartment. Then, we did the process again and again until we have finished other little things in my old house, like clothes, utensils, etc. Since movers are super expensive, my mom didn’t want to spend the extra money just to pay them, so we had to move it ourselves. Plus, we only had a few big furnitures like a TV, some drawers and two bookshelves. Luckily, all those furnitures were able to fit inside my car. My mom’s car was not even big, it was just how my mom managed to put it inside. We were so lucky to put everything inside my mom’s car, that we didn’t even need a mover company.
Other than the furnitures we already had in our old house, my mom also ordered some other furnitures on Ikea and Amazon. When we moved to our new apartment, everything was taken apart, like our beds, TV cables, desk drawers, etc. Even though we brought the biggest part of the furnitures to our new apartment, we threw out some little parts because we could not fit them inside the car and at that time, we thought that if we threw it away, it would not be so big of a consequence. But unfortunately, we were wrong. The screws, wires, the little parts played a big role in putting everything together. We had to order the same exact parts on Ikea, or any other stores that sell screws. It took a long time because we had to be very exact on what kind of screws we needed, like how long was it, how wide was it, what shape, etc; very detailed. But because my grandpa was once a carpenter, we were able to get through this. After we got all the screws, we had to aline them into each separate board to build the bed, the drawers, and the desks, and to connect the wires into the cables to set up the TV. The shelves are easy to assemble, but the two beds are hard because there are too many spare parts. All of this was done by us. It took quite some time, but it was much faster than I thought it would be.
In conclusion, I learned that sometimes, if we work together as a team to do anything, it would work if only each of us had the intention to do it and the mindset of making it good. That is what I learned from my experience of moving.
