Okay, at first I forgot to put the class thing here, so here goes....
I really liked this class, and I made some real good friends. Traveling through the world of literature has been great for me, and I learned a lot about books I've never read before. From doing the homework, I improved my writing skills, and this type of class has honed my socialing skills (IN YOUR FACE, TEACHERES WHO MADE ME SILENT) okay that was rude and I'm sorry, but honestly! We were talking about LESSONS. I hope we will meet again, Robin, Alice, Cadence, Ane.... And of course, Miss Orange and the teachers who helped me. Thanks for everything, guys.
Here's the real homework, please see the warnings before you read.
Warning: contains LGBTQ+ material, those who do not like this stuff, do not read. Based on the daily life of me and my classmates(no, we haven't crashed before, just the personality thing). Names aren't real, or are they....Guess.
Warning2: SUPER LONG, and made just for you <3
three, two, one.....
"WE'RE CRASHING!!" Olivia screamed, as the little plane swayed and began to fall.
"What the...." Emili had just woke up from her nap, looking at her friends' faces.
Kathryn hugged her Em, half-sobbing:" We're gonna crash.... Help...."
"Well, hugging isn't gonna make it better, lovebirds! We should try to abandon plane." Amy said, calm as usual, glancing around the cabin. "There are parachutes and life vests, of course, and I think we have about ten minutes, before the plane---" She broke off as the plane swerved violently to the side.
"Before the plane crashes! Just quickly get some water and food, and clothes!!!" She yelled, reaching for her bag and throwing inside bottled water from the plane. Alice got to her senses and did the same with most of the cookies and bread. Via, Kat and Em stared, before preparing them selves too, in the same way.
"Guys....Look...." Emili pointed.
They were meters away from the water.
"WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TEN MINUTES" Olivia cried, tossing life vests to everyone while trying to scream her head off.
Kathryn furiously worked with the emergancy exit, trying to open it. Finally, it popped open. They all threw the life vests over their heads, and with their bags in their hands, jumped, leaving the poor pilot behind to fend for himself.
Ali's POV(point of view)
The first thing Alice saw was white, the foamy white of the water. The next thing she saw was a small island a few hundred meters away from where they floated.
"There!" she called, "Swim that way!"
They paddeled slowly towards to shore, but when she looked behind her, she only saw three dark heads bobbing in the waves.
"WHERE'S AMY??" Emili screamed.
"I found her!" Kat dragged a sodden Amy to the surface, swimming strongly with the current, pulling the unconcious girl with her. Olivia swam over to help.
Finally, after what seemed like hours, they collapsed ot the shore. Olivia quickly started doing emergancy rescuation on Amy, who, after ten minutes or so, coughed and spewed water, finally sitting up, supported by her sister(Kat) and her best friend(Via).
"Are we stranded?" Emili asked, with the air of one asking about the weather.
"Yep, probobly, with our horrible luck. I bet Sophie and Doris are already safe and sound...." Alice replied. That was true, their friends Sophie and Doris had set out for Australia a week before they did, and are already fine, according from the phone calls.
After getting Amy to her feet, the five teenagers began to scout the island. They located a small cave imbedded in a mountain, filled with crystals and a small fresh spring, which after Emili declared it was safe to drink from, they all drank their fill.
"This is nice, actually." Alice commented.
"Nice, untill you discover that we might have to live here untill we die."
"Speaking of living here, has anyone brought a matchstick? Any way to make a fire of some sort?"Alice asked.
They all turned their bags upside down, but found none. Suddenly, Olivia dug out her pockets, and produced a small tinderbox.
"It's from my mom. They didn't confiscate it at the airport." she explained. The airpost had been in such a hurry that they didn't even have security checks, and all the things they brought were with them in the bags.
They gathered some dry bark, and Amy made a small fire, fueled by driftwood. As they warmed them selves, they listed all the things they needed and already had.
They had two pocketknives and a tinderbox, a way to get fresh water, some food to last them a few days, suitable clothes and they had already seen that the island had goats and wild chicken and fruits. They did need a way to protect themselves from predators and an actual way to HUNT the goats and chicken. However, Emili was vegan and didn't need any meat and offered to teach them how to go without it. Alice, however, thought that they could make nets out of extra clothes and catch fish.
After they had gathered enough wood to keep the fire lasting, Kat and Em went scouting and reported that there were no visible predators on the small island, and that they had found grape vines and lemon trees nearby, and also some plants that looked like sorghum or rice plants. That was good, because then they would have some staple food.
As the sky began to darken, Oliva and Amy made some sharp stakes with sticks and the knives, thrusting them around the cave to protect them from predators. After that, they went to the deepest corners of the cave, which was about ten meters in. They stocked more wood on the fire, spread some soft fluffy sweaters and warm coats(for winter but it was summer at the moment) on the ground, and curled up, huddled together for support and comfort.
Kat's POV
The next morning, Kathryn woke up to find that Emili had layed her arm on top of Kat's chest, and had pinned her to the ground.
"Em! Psst! Em!" she gently called, trying to wake her friend up.
"Huh?" Emili opened her eyes, blushing as she saw their position and withdrew her arm.
"Morning...." Olivia pulled herself upright. Amy and Alice were still asleep, Amy snoring softly. Emili shook them awake.
"Restock the fire?" she nodded, and they found more wood and twigs, careful not to tread on the sticks in the ground.
Amy went for a short walk with Olivia, and came back with armfuls of long soft willow branches.
"Weave these together, for a long wide sheet." she said.
Kat, Via and Ali, the best at handiwork, wove the...er...willowy willow branches together, while Amy and Emili collected more. Finally, the whole thing formed a large carpet-like rug which they spread on the ground, where they had put the sweaters and coats the night before. It was like a carpet, and they could lie on it with comfort. Suddenly, Kat had an idea.
"Why don't we make more of these, for curtains? They don't take much time, with our speed."
They all thought this a good idea, so they wove more and more of the willow, smaller this time, but longer, roughly mesuring the distance from the low cave roof to the carpet-rug. It had taken them till noon to make several, which Alice(the tallest) hung with hangers made crudely but efficently from birch twigs. They took turns changing into summer dresses behind a small room seperated by the curtains, and they ate a short lunch of bread and fresh water.
Kathryn started digging a long tunnel that went out of the cave and to the seaside, for drainage and for a toilet. For showering, they could only bath in the sea, which seemed safe, but for safety they took baths together, clothes drying quickly in the bright sun. Other times, they just wiped themselves off with old clothes, which they then washed and spread in the sun to dry. In the afternoon, they went scouting again, this time reaching the end of the island, about two kilometers from the cave.
Finally, at night and exhausted, they dropped onto the cool carpet rugs, still in dresses, and slept till first dawn.
The next morning, Amy caught a female goat, which was easy for it was slow and heavy and expecting kids. She led it near the cave. They quickly wove fencing for the goat, and pulled some soft new grass for it to eat. The five teens decided to use it for milk, and not eat its meat--yet.
Em's POV
The next few days passed without much interest, and though the others were starting to look thin from no meat, Emili wasn't bothered, being vegan, and survived just fine on bread and grapes and oranges they picked. It turned out that the plants she found were wild wheat, for they had started seeding, leaving some wheat grains for Olivia and Alice to plant near the opening of the cave. The goat and given birth to a healthy young male, and they cared for it, occationally milking the goat with the bottles they got from the botteled water. The milk tasted lovely, not unlike cow's milk, and Amy had decided to try making butter and cheese later on.
Kat had contiued the drainage, finishing it five days later, making it narrow and long, and she prepared to dig more as escape tunnels, lead out across the island, hiding the entrances.
They had found that Amy and Kathryn had some paper and pens and enough ink fills to last them years writing novels ("come on! it was for diaries!") and Via had drawn a clear and detailed map on it, marking out the places that could be used(fruit trees, streams, willow trees....) and they had hid it in their bags, which they hung on the cave wall at the very back for safekeeping.
Alice had wove some small baskets to store things, and they had put bottles, paper, ink, the tinderbox, knives and enough food for a few days in it, in case they were stuck in the cave.
They took turns doing the laundry, washing the clothes untill they were free of dirt and sweat(it was easier then doing the dishes) and they had started a small bonfire on the beach, reletivly close to the cave, surrounded by rocks to prevent it from burning more, and stocked it full of moist wood, making some smoke in case some planes flew by and spotted the fire.
Alice had become the happy gooseberry, watching Kat and Em grow closer while Amy and Olivia seemed more inseperatable by the second.
There had seemed to be no problems whatsoever, besides the fact that they were unable to leave. The weather was warm, with drizzles that watered the land, birds sang and flowers bloomed, even though it was turning into fall with the count of the days.
Via's POV
Olivia had made a small chart for counting the days, by marking on a long piece of white birchwood every day, with a longer mark every week. She marked around it and with tiny but deep scratches, making it efficient but not wasteful. Amy had said this was an AWESOME idea, which made Via happy.
However, nobody seemed to have ever lived on the island. No signes of humans made Olivia unhappy, because she missed Sophie and Doris, who certainly must have thought they were dead.
Alice's birthday rolled around in the middle of fall, and they celebrated it by weaving, Amy and Emili finally trying to make someting decent for a change. The tunnels Kat dug had grown long and winding, all marked on the map in Via's own clear drawings. Kathryn had done it because she was afraid there would be a time when they had to flee, but it was also a way to spend time on the island, with Kat being ADHD and without her favorite books.
One day, Alice had told them she was going to try and catch fish in a stream near the cave, having seen some there. All of them went to watch, by the stream where the cave was visible, and Alice took a woven net she had prepared several days beforehand. There were few fish, but she had successed in catching a few minnows, adding some new taste to their dinner. The fish tasted nice, with lemon juice sprinkled on it, with some fruit. After that, they caught fish every week as a special treat to share, though they always gave extra to the girl who did most in the week.
Fall was passing, as Via counted, but the weather was still nice and warm and moist. The drizzles hadn't changed, and there was still no sign of any planes of ships passing, and Via decided to get used to living on the island.
The baby goat had grown bigger, and Amy named him Emmett, as a small sign of affection.
Amy's POV
Amy had no idea why she named the goat, but it was cute and not old enough to be eaten yet, so she did.
WInter had come, according to Via's branch, but there was still no sign of rescue. However, Amy's sister had seemed to develope a crush on Emili, and Amy had walked in on them kissing by the stream where they fished. The two had quickly broken apart, blushing, and they were all silent untill Kat had exclaimed,"What would you think if I walked in on you and Via?" then they all burst out laughing and Amy was forgiven.
The moment they got back to the cave, Amy anoounced the news of the kiss. Kat and Em blushed, but Via and Ali cheered. Finally, out of sheer happiness, Amy grabbed Via and kissed her, with Via kissing back and the other three cheering louder then ever.
Alice sighed, "I wish Lance was here......"
"Wait Lance? Are you kidding me? I thought you hated him! That's why I pranked on him!" Kathryn exclaimed.
"I liked him, but it was so funny when I see his expression when you prank him." Alice confided.
"I kinda miss everyone, even Lance, but what did you see in him, Ali? He's so concited!"
"He's hot!" Alice said indignantly.
"Okay, okay, I can't argue with that. He IS hot." Kat grumbled.
"WAIT WHAT" Emili gaped.
"Yes but he's still concited."
"Oh. Okay then."
Ali's POV
Alice wished her friends wouldn't comment, but she liked to hear them saying the things they always say, and it was cute to see Emili jealous.
She was still the gooseberry, but still a very happy one.
The next day, Via broke off a crystal from the cave wall and started working on it with another stone. Emili copied. Though the rest of them still have no idea what they were doing, Kat and Amy were giving each other knowing glances.
Alice often took walks in the woods where there was chicken, but she had never had an idea on how to catch them before. Now, it was almost spring, and there were little chicks. She caught about a dozen and carried them in her dress.
When she got back to the cave, each girl claimed her own as a pet after going "Awww" and made little nests for them, building a small chicken coop for the rest to grow up. They went to the woods together after that, and caught more chicks to take home, which they fed on fruit, the wheat that had grown and seeded and grass seeds.
Olivia had suggested they name the chicks as Amy had done with Emmett. Alice named hers Wendy, Via named hers Carlisel, Amy named hers Della, Emili named hers Reneé, and Kathryn named her chick Kylie. They made little necklaces for the chicks to tell them apart, and Emili and Via simply used the ones that Amy and Kathryn made for them.
The chicks had been the highlight of the week, and they had fed some of the fish they caught for a treat.
Amy's POV
Amy loved her little Della. She was fluffy and cute and chirped happily when fed. She fitted perfectly inside Amy's palm, and always played with the others. Her loose necklace had been made by Via's hands, braided and with a pretty knot every five braids. Amy often slept with her, and Del(as she liked to call her) chirped quietly untill they were all asleep.
The next day, Amy used bottle caps to give the chicks a drink, because she thought the spring was too deep for the little chicks.
After that, they all went for a walk on the beach that morning, enjoying the early spring and the eight months they spent on the island.
FOOM. Wait. That was a plane. YES!
Amy danced up and down. Someone had finally seen their fire! As the chopper landed on the beach, the five girls all ran up to meet it. A teenage boy stepped out, and Amy thought he looked familiar...
"Lance! Oh my Gods! Why the--" Kat cried, as they gaped at each other, untill the boy spoke.
"Shut up, Kitty, I still haven't forgotten the pranks you played on me!" he exclaimed, and they laughed.
The six spent the next day packing up, and Amy had been tempted to take Emmett, but Via let him and his mother into the wild. Amy's last sight of him was him glancing back at her before running into the undergrowth after his mom.
They had taken everything besides the woven carpet, but Lance assured them that they would be back.
"War's over. The world decided to make peace. Quick, isn't it? They actually made a funeral for you five. Sophie and Doris sobbed their hearts out. I heard you supposedly died in a plane crash here and came to check it out. Lucky I did, right?"
"No! If you didn't, we would have had happy lives there!" Much laughing, as they went back to the modern world. Even thought they would come back soon, Amy felt that they had already left it forever, and soon the adventure was simply a memory, remaining in the five girls' minds, together, forever.....
Hi, it's Annabeth for the last time here....I'll miss you all so much, and I hope that our memories of the lessons will be like their memories of the adventure: together, forever......
Miss you and lots of love,
Annabeth<3
