Um I'm just gonna do a simple one....
I personally don't like Sherlock Holmes very much, preferring Conan the Japanese anime, but I found the book books intriguing. I'm not sure what I think about Holmes, but I've played Watson in a drama in sixth grade, and I've developed a fondness for the character.
I think the books were a bit boring, not because of the plot, but because the subject was uninteresting and failed to capture my mind. I've got a few short suggestions for the books:)
First, ADD SOME PICTURES. People aren't going to read books with nothing but words for a reason. Pictures make meanings clearer.
Second, STOP MAKING EVERYTHING SO POLITE AND YE OLDE! It's not very interesting to read a book in which people go "would you please...." and " thank you, it's kind of you but...." I know it's polite, but too much politeness takes all the fun out of it, and makes it dull for us kids.
Actually, there are only two bits of advice, but it's something I pay attention to as I write. I used to illustrate my own fanfiction, and I'm not all politeness..... However, a bit of politeness is neededd to add a small sparkle to the character's personality. For example, the main characters should have a distinct personality, being extremly or extremly not polite. That makes it a sort of phrase the character could be based on.
Not much, but I think it's valuble advice......Right?
