MOON BASE ALPHA – DEATH OF DR. HOLTZ

Life on the moon is supposed to be a blast. At least, that’s what NASA told Dash’s scientist parents when they recruited the couple and their family for a three-year mission on Moon Base Alpha (MBA, for short)–the very first settlement on the lunar surface. In reality, life for twelve-year-old Dashiell and the thirty-odd researchers, families and space tourists isn’t quite what was promised. For one thing, dehydrated food is never tasty (and often mislabeled). For another, sleeping in coffin-like stand-up beds that you have to be strapped into totally sucks. And don’t even get Dash started on the toilets–talk about uncomfortable.

NASA, politicians, and the adventure company that helped fund Moon Base Alpha don’t want you to know any of these things… nor do they want you to know that lunar scientist Dr. Holtz’s untimely death wasn’t an “accident”, but a murder.

The night that Dr. Holtz died, Dash was using the bathroom (revenge of the rehydrated chicken pram–don’t ask), and overheard the scientist talking on the phone about a breakthrough discovery that would change human life forever. Dr. Holtz was excited and almost euphoric–so Dash doesn’t buy it when MBA commander Nina says that Dr. Holtz’s midnight moonwalk was either a tragic accident, or that Holtz was depressed or suffering from some kind of psychological breakdown.

It is Dash’s job to track down the murder that is on the lose, with the help of his new friend Kira and the mysterious Zia (call herself a worker on space rocket that comes to MBA every 2 weeks), can he find the murder and solve the great discovery that Dr. Holtz’s is trying to tell everyone.

Dash and Kira hack through the Base Computer to get the footage on of the security camera that is recorded during Dr. Holtz is doing his moonwalk. They discovered that Dr. Holtz is using sign language. The computer translation of the sign language that Dr. Holtz is this:

I AM BEING MURDERED, EARTH KILLED ME, TELL MY FAMILY I LOVE THEM. FIND MY PHONE.

Soon after that Dash discovered that the phone is hidden inside Solar Panel B Section 4 Number 39. They risk their life when out and get it. But some one inside the control room is trying to kill them with a giant huge robot arm. They nearly died, but they still got the phone. Chang, a genius on MBA tries to clear the phone’s recording out. The phone is in really bad shape, but there is a recording 32 min before Dr. Holtz’s death.

THE DISCOVERY THAT HOLTZ MADE IS THAT HE FOUND A NEW SPEICE (ALIEN) OUT SIDE OUR GALAZY. BUT SOME MAN ON MBA DON’T WANT THE IDEA TO SHARE IT WITH THE WORLD. NO ONE ON MBA SOUND LIKE THAT MAN. THIS MAN SAID THAT HE PUT REINFORCEMENTS IN DR. HOLTZ’S DAUGHTER’S HOUSE. AND DR. HOLTZ’S IS FORCED OUT THE AIR LOCK.

But what Dash is worried about is who is the murder. And then he realized about the EARTH KILL ME translate. He remembered that computer makes mistakes. So he let his mom to translate it for him. And it turns out that Dash is right all along. The right translation is down below:

I AM BEING MURDERED, GRISAN KILLED ME, TELL MY FAMILY I LOVE THEM. FIND MY PHONE.

Dash know it. Mr. Grison is the murder. No one ever heard him talking so no one knows the voice. Mr. Grison is near the main air lock. He want their COOPERATION. He don’t want anyone to find out this alien thing. If they come near him, he is going to kill them all by deep pressure the whole MBA and they are all going to get killed. But Lars Sjoberg distracted his attention, and Chang and other MBA citizens went and hand cuffed him.

Now Dash knows what alien it is about. He found out that Zan is an alien by looking at the blue eyes. The eyes aren’t real. And the aliens are watching the Earth (of course and the moon) for almost a decade. The night that Dash is in the bathroom, Dr. Holtz it talking to Zan. He learns that Zan is not really here, it is just a thought that is in his mind. Dash ask Zan if she can teach him how to think him self to the planet that Zan is from. And she agreed.
